The Legend of Iveswood

Where hope hides in shadow.

Volume 1: “Beyond the Walls”

“They call me a shadow.
I don’t blame them, considering what I am…but truth is seldom known without missing pieces.
Call me Storm.”

A primordial force of reckoning known in ages past as the Silent Ruler has overstepped his bounds, eclipsing the Old Land again. This kingdom is young, but their time may run out before they learn who he is….
In the city of Fort Exalder, a young man in a tattered gray cloak pilfers food and loose change, hides in an abandoned mill, and goes by the simple nickname “Storm” to the few on the streets who know him. What no one knows is he is being hunted by the ruthless Lord Adelric of Exalder—due to a rather, unsettling, curse.
Storm just wants to be left alone: to eke out some sort of peaceful existence without being chased by soldiers, or townsfolk with pitchforks; a life where his “affliction” will not drive him to do something from which there may be no redemption.
Then, one night, after he grants shelter to a paranoid man wandering the slums, Storm is handed the chance he has been yearning for. Adelric is helping bring about some forewarned disaster no one seems to remember, that could crumble the fledgling kingdom of Skylia…or worse. And Storm becomes convinced he must stop it to free himself of Adelric’s vengeance, and clear his name. Alone.
Little does he know, this is only the beginning of a journey that will rip him from the sheltering crowds and high walls of Exalder, and lead him through woodland villages rocked by the first ripples of conflict, thrust him into the treacherous depths of the Etheryn, and introduce him to a range of characters, such as the curious “former” apprentice-healer, Clara Higden; an industrious Terracondra named Aeccestane, who is, unfortunately, not as bold as he thinks he is; and Mog, a wistful giantess with a sadly one-sided enjoyment of human company—and will force him to realize he just might believe in Adelric’s lies, too…
