The Legend of Iveswood

Where hope hides in shadow.

Volume 1: “The Dragon’s Curse”

“They call me a shadow.
I don’t blame them, considering what I am, but truth is seldom known without missing pieces.
Call me Storm.”

A primordial force of reckoning known in ages past as the Silent Ruler has overstepped his bounds, eclipsing the Old Land again. This kingdom is young, but their time may run out before they learn who he is….
In the city of Fort Exalder, a young man in a tattered gray cloak pilfers food and loose change, hides in an abandoned mill, and goes by the simple nickname ‘Storm,’ to the few on the street who know him.
What nobody knows is that he is being hunted by the ruthless Lord Adelric of Exalder—due to an unsettling secret.
Skylians have long known of the Metamorphae: a mistrusted and dwindling wild folk with the ability to transform into a chosen animal shape, and back again, at will. Storm’s “shape-shifting” on the other hand, manifests in the form of a vicious, impulsive dragon that clouds his mind, and overwhelms him for control.
For most of his life, Storm has dealt with this dragon-problem with the help of an old thief who took him under his wing long ago. But now, Phantom is gone, and it seems only a matter of time before Lord Adelric corners him, and the dragon pushes him to do something from which there is no redemption.
Then, one night, Storm grants shelter to a desperate madman fleeing through the slums—and is handed a chance to clear his name and stop Adelric, or else, watch Skylia crumble under a forewarned disaster no one seems to remember.
Unfortunately, taking this chance will mean leaving the sheltering crowds and high walls of Exalder for a path Storm was never prepared to take…and a choice between joining a motley crew of characters from across Skylia, or facing the Silent Ruler with a curse he cannot break free of. Alone.
